Savers Bank Donates $6,000 to Southbridge Food Share to Support Rent Costs Amid Organizational Transition

Southbridge, MA – September 11, 2024 –Savers Bank is pleased to announce a donation of $6,000 to the Southbridge Food Share, a critical community resource that provides food assistance to residents in need. This donation will help cover rent expenses as Southbridge Food Share transitions its operations to Holy Trinity Church.

Southbridge Food Share’s move to Holy Trinity Church represents a new chapter for the organization. The church has graciously provided space at a reduced rent, reflecting their commitment to supporting the Food Share’s mission. While this is the first time the organization has had to budget for rent, the amount is modest and allows Southbridge Food Share to continue its critical work with minimal financial impact. Savers Bank's donation will cover the first six months of rent, helping to ensure that Southbridge Food Share remains focused on its mission of providing food to those in need.

"We are honored to support Southbridge Food Share as they settle into their new location at Holy Trinity Church," said Rosemary Picard, President and CEO of Savers Bank. "This organization plays a crucial role in our community, and we’re committed to helping them thrive in their new environment. We hope our contribution will also inspire others to support their important work."

As Southbridge Food Share navigates this transition, the organization plans to revise and revamp its fundraising goals and methods to meet the challenge of covering rent on an annual basis. The Board of Directors, comprised entirely of volunteers, is committed to sustaining the organization's mission, which includes advocating to end hunger, providing volunteer opportunities, and participating in community events that promote these goals.

Founded in the late 1970s by a group of volunteers, Southbridge Food Share has long been a cornerstone of the community. The organization is powered by the generosity of volunteers, donors, and monthly contributions from the Worcester County Food Bank in Shrewsbury, MA. The move to Holy Trinity Church will help Southbridge Food Share continue to serve those in need for years to come.
